Corrupt source shown as CRC error

CH has been throwing CRC errors at me for, what was initially, no obvious reason.

The files are fairly large, about 3-4gb, and they're stored on a regular sata2 drive mounted in a USB2-dock. From there, they're supposed to be transfered to a portable USB3 drive.

First I thought there were errors in the filesystem on the target drive, but I tried several, and I got CRC errors every time.

After doing a diagnostic run on the source drive, there turned out to be corrupt sectors on it.

Is it normal, or even sensible, for CH to throw out CRC errors for what is a source error?
